Things That Go "BUMP" In The Night

What's happening to me tonight? First Ailsa Loh bump my cheek with her head then my mummy bump me on my right foot with the door...sob...sob...sob.

Running On Empty

What happens when you are driving without realising that the engine oil is empty?

Stalled car, burnt gaskets, expensive, very expensive overhaul and to top it all, the inconvenience of going around doing your business and chores without a car, while your mechanic tries to solve your problem.

Business has been rather slow, so I have been on austerity drive for awhile. One of the ways was to service your car irregularly. Like trying to stretch from 2 months to 4 months. Well, let me tell you this....it may seems "smart" but it's really stupid...especially when you have to use your car everyday.

I visited my mechanic this afternoon, hoping for him to come up with a solution for my problematic wiring and to at the same time to check and see if the engine oil needs to be changed. His comment..."What engine oil?" I have been running on empty...I don't know for how long? 40 days maybe? Of course it may have been less then 40 days....but in actually fact...the gaskets can burn and that's it. My austerity drive exercise would have back-fired a hundred fold.

This reminds me of the passage of the bible :-

Deuteronomy 8 : 4

"Your clothes did not wear out and your feet did not swell during these forty years."

This passage refers to the Israelites wondering in the desert after leaving Egypt. And for forty years, GOD, not only provided them food and water in the desert but also shelter with a pillar of cloud, during the day and warmth, with a pillar of fire, during the night. The good LORD did not stop there...HE prevented the clothes and sandals from wearing out throughout the forty years.

As for my case...the LORD prevented the engine from over burning. It's HIS provision and all glory goes to HIM and HIM alone, while all stupidity goes to me. GOD gave me a mind and I'm not using it properly. GOD however showed me mercy...like HE does to all my sins, shame, failure etc in my life. Instead HE showed me grace by granting to me eternal life through my LORD JESUS CHRIST who died for me and HIS blood averted my condemnation.

Inspiring Cartoon Email

Got a series of inspiring cartoon via email today but sad to say I just managed to save only 1 of about 10.

Another Gift From "Tai Pak"

Here's another gift from "Tai Pak" for the boys. Now this is going to be a really challenging gift. Why? Because they boys are not allowed to play with the cars...that's why. The cars are for "Display" only. Not "Replay" as Ivan would say.

The "Standard Operating Procedure" for our kids with new toys would be to take out the new toys and immediately play with it. Some of the toys will last a little longer. Some...like the remote helicopter that I bought (which incidentally cost me a bomb) for them lasted only 2 days.

So let this be put on record that we got the toys on friday (10th of April 2009) night and see how long it will last inside the display without taking them out.

A Dinner For Sister But...

It started out as a dinner for sister...being that her birthday is round the corner and she will be away (on holiday) then...so we organised a dinner for her but...turned out...she paid for half of it...because she wanted to give my wife a belated birthday treat (an excused cooked up by her so that I don't have to pay everything).

Yin Peng was the one who suggested the place and my mom felt it was one of the best dinner she had ever had. And I'm glad that it's money well spent (though a little pricey).

Who Or What Is Our Security?

Who or what is our security? In other words, what do we need to do to feel safe? To have a good night sleep? Will a guard dog be enough? How about a ten thousand ringgit lock? Grill doors and gates that's as secure as a prison?

Our neighbour's house has been neglected for as long as we have moved in into the neighbourhood. About a year back, the house was sold and renovation started. My wife and I were hopeful..."Ah at last the house will be occupied."

Renovation was slow and it stopped for a few months. In between there were a few months where the house was totally opened (ie all the doors, windows and grills were removed). The first contractor (after the death of his father who was the man behind the company) took his own sweet time to do his job. We were a bit worried that the rain and even thieves would enter our house through the neighbour's wall. Well who wouldn't when we hear of break ins and snatch thieves etc happening a few doors away.

So this week the new neighbour is starting to move in. A few nights in a roll, we see bikes (about 10 of them) parked outside their house. In a way we feel safe because as long as they are people around, the bad hats will not try to do anything...on the other hand...who is the ONE who has been protecting us? Yes. It has been the LORD. There is no greater PROTECTOR except the LORD.

I have the LORD...who am I to fear? HE died and rose again. Death cannot conquer HIM. Grave cannot hold him. HE is risen and HE will come again some day. HE is the ONE who made heaven and earth. HE is the ONE who holds the universe together. That's security. That's assurance.

I don't know about tomorrow,

I just live from day to day

I don't borrow from the sunshine

For it's skies may turn to gray

I don't worry o'er the future

For I know what JESUS said

And today I'll walk beside HIM

For HE knows what is ahead

Many things about tomorrow

I don't seem to understand

But I know who holds tomorrow

And I know who holds my hand

Ian's Ambition Is....

Ian's ambition is to be a....(no not in the Cabinet)...but a Scientist.

And The Father Of The Year Goes To....

Uncle Mickey!!!

I have always admire Uncle Mickey who will take time to apply nail polish onto his daughters fingernails. His love, his patience, his perseverance and consistencies wins it all.

Of course, this is not the only thing that he will do for his kids. In fact he will be willing to carry his kids without any complain up and down a hill if the kids are tired. (As for me...I would have told my kids to walk on their own...it builds character and strength...ha ha)

Malaysia - New Cabinet (Can Include Our Kids Ah?)

Our new PM has just revealed the new set of members for the Cabinet of the country.

Can our kids be in the new Cabinet? As young as they are, they are already working over lunch. Yes, they have Work Lunches. Nothing is going to stop them. How else to get things done with such short time frame?

Way to go kids.

Ivan's Love Note

Boy Kena "Wat"

Boy got a bonus and he kena "wat" by the family yesterday for a dinner. As for our niece and nephew who are overseas now...you will be next to be "wat". So be warned.

The family went for dinner in an old Restaurant in Jalan Pudu yesterday and after which we proceed to the lane for "Tong Sui" and "Yau Char Kui". Where we sat we had a great view of a few cockroaches having a party of their own on top of a seven foot partition that divide the "dining area" and the bins. This is Malaysia...sweet Malaysia.
