Singapore Trip - Day 1

6th December 2008

The Drive

As a 10th Anniversary gift, my brother gave us a 7 - day free stay in a Singapore hotel. We planned to start our journey on Saturday morning but because of some unsettled business, we only managed to leave Kuala Lumpur around 2.30pm. One thing we didn't realise was that the following Monday was a Public holiday...so needless to say, we were caught in an entourage of cars moving south.

We were caught an a hour and a half jam between Nilai and Seremban and another (about 40 mins) at the Causeway. We were finally greeted by the lovely Singapore air and atmosphere at around 10.30pm.

The Hotel

I really didn't have a clue which hotel we were going to until the night before...that's because I did not want to expect too much. Without knowing then, my wife happen to have an opportunity to see the hotel and it's surrounding when she was down in Singapore a few months ago for job training and Ian check out the hotel via the Internet.

We were actually given two rooms. One with a double bed and another with two single beds.

The Dinner

When we have checked in into the hotel we quickly walk out to catch our dinner (Yes at around11.00pm). We took a 10 mins walk down the road and we were at the Food Court. They were still serving Dim Sums, Fried Noodles, Soup Noodle, (great) soya drink etc.

Malaysia Vs Singapore
One thing we notice is that you still feel safe walking on Singapore roads but not in Malaysia. We don't even want to walk out of our house after 8 .00 or 9.00pm because of the frequency of snatch thieves and muggers.

The other thing is that the roads are relatively clean and laid with lovely plants.
