My mom turned 80 recently and we held a little dinner for her with the family.
My eldest brother took the trouble to scan many of her old photos and I just string them up to have a quick slide show. It was fun seeing all those photos again. Photos that had been lying inside the cupboard until then. There were photos of those days when she was a swinging single, when she was with the choir, her engagement, her marriage and so on and so forth. Each of the photos, I'm sure must have brought back memories for her for those who were there then.
But I must confess...I do feel a bit sad seeing her growing old. She is hard in hearing and also getting a little more forgetful. Finding it harder to understand what we are trying to tell her...sign of old age. Aren't we glad that one day, when we meet the LORD JESUS CHRIST, we will be in a brand new body....a body that is not subjected to old age nor decay.
In the mean time I want to celebrate and give thanks for she is still with us. It's a blessing from the LORD to us to have her.
